What we do?
New Asian Traditions stages the finest contemporary crafts, design, and furniture being authentically made in Asia today. NAT is a retail subsidiary of the nonprofit Friends Craft Cooperative, where we design, train craftspeople, and handmake furniture and homegoods.
Why we do?
Crafts have so long been relegated to the primitive, the oriental, and the nostalgic, so here we demonstrate the potential of contemporary crafts, design, and their processes as:
- New expressions of contemporary Asia, and;
- A technology of production that creates a more optimistic, equal, and inclusive future.
